The Watchman Island Yacht Club grew from a small but enthusiastic group of Auckland yachtsman living within sight of the Watchman Island, just west of the Auckland Harbour Bridge.
Formed 1992, WIYC enjoyed several club days each year of fun sailing, and on the arrival of the Electron chose the Des Townson radio controlled yacht, as the ideal solution, to sail identical yachts in friendly and competitive competition.
Today the WIYC continues to sail the wonderful radio controlled yachts, on a regular basis, close to Watchman Island, at the Westhaven Marina, Auckland, New Zealand.
